Infinity Pool - Mountain Bar and Bistro Hilton Shillim

Hilton has always been my best hotel mate since 2011. Whether I travel for work or a personal stay, I choose them for various reasons. The swank Hilton holiday resorts are located at undeniably beautiful locations and are gorgeously done up. Most importantly, I notice that Hilton properties pay attention to detail with the housekeeping and put up great food presentation. Additionally, their level of customer service is clearly a class apart!

On our recent road trip to Pune, from Bangalore, we had plans to try out Hilton’s property at Shillim. This is about 70 Kms from Pune city and is located on a hilltop 5 minutes from Shillim village in the Sahyadri mountain range . My husband initially was against staying here as it was way too far from our actual route map. Well, I am glad we did it and he says that too – Unless you come here, you will have absolutely no idea how beautiful the valleys and the mountains are in Lonavala. Yes, if you plan to vacation in Lonavala, try this property and you will know what I meant to say here!

We stayed here between the 19th and the 21st of Dec (Room 214).

Check-In Talks

I have never been less than happy at any of the Hilton resorts till date and being a Hilton Honors Gold just adds an icing to my joy! We were here to celebrate our anniversary and nothing in our stay was less than perfect. After a quick and pleasant check-in we were driven to our villa in one of their Nano cars (they have about 25 of these available at any point in time) which they use to ferry the guests everywhere in the 350 acres property.

Alternatively, one can always ride a cycle to move around in the property. As a gold member, I got my usual upgrade (this time to the Spa Pool villa) and I was blown away by the size and structure of it.

How exactly was the Villa?

The villa was about 205 sq m and had a spacious living room, bedroom and an equally sprawling wash and bath.

The private pool was huge and so was the bath area (Open shower, Jacuzzi and the like). The spa pool villa also came with an exotic espresso maker to make the experience more exclusive.

How were the Amenities ?

Our villa was in the retreat area (child-free zone). That made it extra comfortable as we were looking for some noise-free time!

Route Signs Within the Property

Amenities in our villa were more than sufficient and our sleep quality was outstanding as always (I have never had an issue with the sleep quality at any of the Hiltons)!

Additionally, the resort has an activity area, a retreat area (around the spa with an adult pool), meditation cave, an organic vegetable garden which also houses two horses; Wally and Homie, and of course several restaurants and bars!

We tried their Tea House on both the days and the options were very good. Jayanta, at the Tea House, was very knowledgeable about his recommendations. As mentioned at the outset, the ambiance and the view of the mountains from here was fabulous!

What about the food?

For breakfast, it was Terrazzo (the main buffet dining) for us and the spread was excellent. We also tried the dinner buffet at Terrazzo on one occasion and it was very good.

Mountain Bistro was another restaurant at an altitude which we tried lunching one afternoon and it was beautiful. It is a cleverly positioned bistro with wide-ranging customizable menu, very helpful and cheerful staff, and of course flawless views of the infinity pool on one side and the mountains on the other!

On our last evening, we opted in-room dining and the food arrived well in time and tasted fabulous! Overall, the food at Hilton Shillim was fantastic regardless of its many restaurants!

The service at Shillim Hilton was exceptional. The housekeeping staff, staff at all the restaurants, and the staff in general belonged to a whole new realm in providing remarkable service.

Check-Out!

Our check-out too was very quick and pleasant! We also got neatly packed parting boxes of fruit and cake.

That was indeed a very kind gesture from Hilton Management. It did make a difference to us for our on going road trip.

  1. Amazing isn’t it? I am sure its also abuzz with many birds. Nearby is one of Maharashtra’s ‘Important Birding Areas’…

  2. Wow, this place looks beautiful! The views and surrounding nature are gorgeous. I love that it has a vegetable garden with Wally and Homie wandering around ha ha.
